About Our Agency
At Danaher Skewes & Associates, we are proud of our long engagement with the communities we serve. Our story began in 1963 when Thomas P. Danaher, Sr. established his own independent agency on Pollard Street in Arlington, offering multiple lines of coverage to the growing DC metropolitan area. Danaher Insurance relocated to Annandale in 1989. In 2006, Ozzie Skewes and the Battlefield Insurance team joined our operation, followed by Randy Thomas and the Fredericksburg Insurance Group in 2007. Today, our three locations are staffed by insurance professionals who live in the communities they serve.
By working with numerous major insurance carriers we are able to create specialized coverage programs that are unique to each client. Broad company representation also allows us to comparatively evaluate the products of many insurers to find the best price and optionsavailable. Our personalized solutions help create strong long term relationships with our insureds.
Our goal is to be a comprehensive resource and partner to our clients. We strive to create unbeatable value in our relationships through personalized service and a high degree of professionalism. We are proud to be a member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, Professional Insurance Agents, the Chamber of Commerce and other professional and trade organizations.
As part of our staff's committment to professional development, all of our associates participate in continuing education. This has resulted in our agents earning numerous industry recognized designations, including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA), Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) as well as progress toward the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) certifications.
Our Agency and its employees are actively engaged with the community outside the workplace. We are long term supporters of the schools, churches and non profits that benefit our neighborhoods. We have lent our support through contributions and volunteerism to groups such as the Boy Scouts of America, Wounded Warriors, the Bladder Cancer Network, Capital Caring, The Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association, St. Ann's Infant & Maternity Home, and the American Cancer Society.
